As we all know, there are a million ways to trip yourself up as a freelancer, with many of these missteps attributable to simply not knowing you should or shouldn’t do that. A vast, vast majority of those are easy-to-fix mistakes that are much simpler than you might expect, and avoiding these common slip-ups can really set you apart from the crowd.
Here are nine of the most common ones to avoid. And, as always, everything below is a guideline and not a rule — there are veeeery few hard-and-fast rules in freelancing. (Though there are a few.) So with that in mind, let’s dive in!
