So I’ll be honest, I’m not having the greatest week.
It’s nothing particularly horrendous, but a handful of smaller things didn’t go the way I’d hoped, I wasn’t as successful with a few things I was doing, and I’m feeling a little bit burned out creatively lately. Any of those on their own would be easy to brush off (and, really, the best medicine is just a few good nights’ sleep), but taken together they’ve got me feelin’ a bit gloomy. Basically, I just kind of hit a wall this week.
It happens to everyone, it passes, and things are never as bad as they seem in our imaginations. We all know this! Cliché as it is, “this too shall pass” is a mantra I deeply subscribe to and think of often. But that doesn’t mean the feelings and emotions we get aren’t real, and knowing this too shall pass certainly doesn’t stop our dumb brains from catastrophizing and turning a few disappointments into seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
Which is the problem! That’s just life and adulthood, and, just like everything will eventually work out one way or another, these ruts inevitably pop up again and again.
